Another question regarding Probstein 123 vs. PWCC >>

Here's the deal, I have used Brent over at PWCC at least two times however it seems the rates have increased with him if your not dealing with expensive items, $100+. I probably have around $12500 worth of cards that I would like to sell however its a mix of expensive cards plus $10-20 type cards as well, am I better going with Probstein on these rather than PWCC due to the commission rates? Am confused here, have never dealt with Probstein in regards to selling however have read good things on here about him. I also forgot to ask him if he starts the auctions right away or if they are listed on certain dates, opinions please... Thanks!

  • I use both. In your situation I would go with 123.

I have a bunch of those phony grocery cellos to sell--who should I consign them to?

You can't go wrong with either PWCC or Probstein. I believe Probstein's rates are more favorable for cards under $100, and PWCC is probably better for cards over $500. Anything in between is a wash.

In my experience, lower value items aren't worth consigning. In fact, I'm surprised to see Probstein reply that they'd "love to work with you" which seems to be contradictory to what they told me about lower value items.

There's a great thread about consignment fees here.

Good luck with selling your collection!

I have used Rick several times and was quite happy with the service. He sold my more expensive cards as well as mid priced and lower priced cards with no complaints about selling the less expensive ones.

Rick may i fact be great to deal with, but my point wwas, why would he move those grocery cellos and suggest that they are legit. they are not. If you are gonna move them, give a disclaimer--even though they are "graded" by GAI.

here is the heading for the auction... 1972 Topps Baseball Unopened Cello Pack GAI 8 w/ Cincinnati Reds Top Front

    =Linky to Auction]http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Topps-Baseball-Unopened-Cello-Pack-GAI-8-w-Cincinnati-Reds-Top-Front-/120965257428?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item1c2a1758d4[/L]

Rick--it is not a legit cello pack. Why sell that as if they are to unsuspecting people?

I have returned many of these to consignors in the past once the dispute was brought to my attention ...

as u know, we do huge volume, and that pack go thru....
i would have ended the auction but nobody emailed me about the listing until now , and its too late to end it...

I will email the winner about the dispute prior to shipment...

    thanks

Someone who wanted to sell them without doing a ton of legwork. Ask DPeck100 or Oakesy25 if they're worth selling. image

When listed properly, they actually don't sell too poorly.

ALWAYS been very very happy with Rick's professionalism and results. I would highly recommend using them. My personal thought is it is best for you to send him everything you think will end at $20 and up. Your low end stuff will get solid results with a few very happy upside surprises (sometimes 2 or 3 times what you expect). Your high end stuff will probably get a premium greater than what you end up paying in consignment and ebay fees. I figure I get 100% net from Rick what I would get if I listed them myself before eBay, PayPal fees, deadbeat buyers, etc. Plus I send one package and Rick's team send 20-30 etc.

  • Great, thanks for every ones feedback here! Looks like I will be headed down to the bank in the morning and sending Rick the entire contents of my safety deposit box! I will miss collecting cards but sort of got in a situation where I started to collect one player and got to the point where I started to collect everything I saw and spent $3000+ a month on eBay while running my credit cards through the roof. Its fun to collect but got a little out of hand for me and think I will take a long needed break from eBay and the hobby. There are just so many cards that I want however don't even think if I had Bill Gates' money that I would still be able to get everything that I want, ahhhhhhh..... Anyways there will be some nice cards being auctioned by Rick here soon, I would do it myself however eBay has become a real pain in the a@@ if you know what I mean and want a headache free transition out of the marketplace! Thanks

very good Rick.. I know that these were the subject of past posts and I was surprised to see it in there. glad to hear your response
  • Rick, did a great job selling my Hall Of Fame set (Mostly Modern). He even sold a PSA 9 Gold HOF Plaque for over $90.

    I would recomend Rick.
