I believe Blue grades and authenticates the auto but does not authenticate the card, and Red grades and authenticates the card and auto but only grades the card.
  • Blue authenticates auto only

Red authenticates auto AND grades the card

Blue flip authenticates the card to right?
It usually says on the flip the year & the brand.

This statement is wrong, There is a huge difference between blue and red flips and I will try to explain it:

The blue flip DOES NOT authenticate the card. It only authenticates the autograph. It is very possible that a card in a blue flip holder is a reprint/counterfeit or doctored up/trimmed. Just because the brand and year of the card is listed on the flip doesn't necessarily mean the card is authentic.

The red flip DOES authenticate both the card and the autograph. The only thing a red flip can't do is give a authenticated autograph a number grade. The only grade that is present on a redflip card is for the condition of the card and the autograph is just found to be authentic.

Personally, I would never buy a high end card in a blue flip holder thats IMO

If you have any questions, please feel free to pm me and I will try to explain the process in more depth, if needed..
