    Guys,

Here is a message I just got from Steve. Someone is going to get lucky!!!!!! Just another example of why Steve is the best in the business.

    Mark,
Let everyone on the boards know that 1 of the packs of 1980/81 Topps basketball has a Bird/Magic rookie showing on the back of the wax pack! I only point this out because it may be difficult to see if you don’t look very closely. I wouldn’t want someone to open the pack who maybe didn’t look good and would have probably kept that pack unopened. When Rick was looking at the roller seals on the back of the packs, the Bird/Magic was visible! Thanks, Steve

I had the same problem with the last break. I called BBCE to pay and I asked them to hold the shipment for 9 days and ship to my new address. They were very accommodating and it went perfectly. Doug

Two years ago, I sold this one, asking something like $350- I honestly forget what I ultimately sold it for, but I do remember that was my original asking price:

    Mark,
Although I did not participate in the group rip, I wanted to say this was pretty nice of you to put this together. About four months ago I did two rips just to have some fun for some of the guys and it was a ton of work. Granted I mailed all the stuff out but just keeping up with all of it is pretty exhausting. I know BBC appreciates it too. Hopefully the next rip I will join in.

The stat I'm most interested in is this one...

How many people did what I did???

Saw when the Group Rip first dropped that the Rip Of All Rip's didn't include 1986-87 Fleer Basketball, so you passed... only to come on here 5 days later and see that it was added after the fact and wasn't wildly announced so that if you didn't follow the thread after initially running down the list... you didn't know... and thus... missed out

    Eric,

The reason for the 86 Fleer Bskt not being in the original rip was because Steve had sold it. It was the next day that Steve emailed me and said the buyer backed out. I did add to the title that we added the 86 Fleer Basketball box.

The way product from the 70's is getting harder to come by it seems inevitable that Steve will have to raise his buy prices significantly and we will have to face the increased costs when he sells. Even then there is no guarantee that there is an adequate supply available to be bought at any price. Time will tell but be prepared for prices to start spiking upward. IMO

    Doug,

Honestly, I think you are 100% correct. The big question is how much. I don't think people are going to worry about paying $2-$3 more/pack for 78 Topps wax but if it goes up $10-$12/pack then that is a differet story. Where I see the biggest rise in un-opened is racks. Cello's would be second and then wax.

I busted a full box of those leafs when Rosen first found the case. I traded some packs to BBCexchange back in the day.
The packs were crazy. Id have a pack that would have 4 copies and sometimes even 5 copies of the same player in 1 pack. All the same player! 1 of my packs had 3 Jim Bunnings and 1 pack had 4 Smith Brothers. I pulled 4 Bunnings , 3 Sparky Andersons, and 6or7(cant remember exact, it was a lot) Smith Brothers out of the packs. And I ended up with about 25 9s and several 8s. The box paid for itself and more after I graded and the marbles didnt affect the condition at all. The cards were crisp and mint and most were centered. Id be interested in a few of those leaf packs if yall do bust the box.
I would also be willing to beat down a 1970-71 BK pack or 2.
