Why barter using PMs at this time?

I've seen some barter ads on craigslist or here or there. Work for Silver or gold. Trade for ... Selling for silver... etc.
To me, I'd rather just use regular money to keep it simple, unless the exchange in the deal was very good for me.
Some guy is offering Firewood for Silver. Ok, if I got $60 worth of wood for a $30 coin, but other than that, I don't want to
give up my silver. I bought it for the future. I can see doing fair trades for collection pieces that each other want, say here
on the forums. But not too much purpose elsewhere.
I mean on private deals between people, there is generally no tax or fees. So unless there was a bit dip in the spot
of a PM at the time of the deal, why? Other than being able to keep deals private....

yes, silver and gold coins are the next best thing to twenties, fiftys, and hundreds, but they are way distant and poor substitutes for everyone except readers of this forum

She wanted 2/3 of her earnings in cash and 1/3 in silver (just common stuff of course), so that's what she got.
Nice to see even kids coming around to the idea of it not just being something pretty to wear or look at. She completely understands the value of it and how it can be used as an investment.

I had the same thought.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
