Anyone know about Score Board COAs? Manny Ramirez Ball

I am possibly doing a purchase/trade for a Manny Ramirez ball that comes with a COA from Score Board. Was this company legit? Any thoughts on the ball?

Thanks a lot.

Scoreboard was legit. The problem was there is no way to tell the COA offered was for the exact ball in a person's collection. Was very easy to keep an authentic ball and swap it out with a fake while providing the COA from Scoreboard back in the day. I always take Scoreboard COAs with a grain of salt because even though the company was legit, there's no way to cross reference the COA to the item.

You should post this pic on Net54(get Leons permission since its not prewar) and ask Ken Goldin...He is trying to start an auction house and has posted a lot on Net54.

This is exactly the problem and also, the COA's are easily duplicated. If the item came directly from Scoreboard it was good. But, how can you tell?

According to Mr. Goldin there is a watermark on the legit COAs. However, there is no guarantee that that is the ball it went with.

I could be wrong, but I don't recal any signings that Scoreboard did with Manny

Thanks for all of the responses. I went on the Net54 board, and actually found Ken's emails address. Emailed him, he responded about 45 seconds later, and I think I am going to pass.

When Scoreboard went belly up I thought it was Kenny that used the COA's
on a bunch of stuff, also wasn't he the phone guy on Donnie West's show?

IMO they are not worth the paper they are written on.

    Good for you.

My take - and it's not at all expert...

If one bought an item from SB in "the day" - it's my opinion it'll be totally legit - I remember many of the 'bigs' including Mantle had a contract with them - in fact - SB even sold balls thru the Penney's catalog at Christmas time. I'm going back when you could get a Ryan ball for like 20 bucks and a Mantle for 30 - to the best of my recollection. Even the Mays bat was cheap back then.

I agree with Steve - today? I would be very incredulous. There's no way to know if the ball goes with the COA.
