I guess this leaves Bobb Doerr as the only "teammate" left of the four. Pretty sad.

RIP Mr. Pesky: Boston Red Sox icon Johnny Pesky, a teammate of Ted Williams, a manager of Carl Yastrzemski and an instructor with the self-styled "Idiots" that finally won a World Series for the Red Sox in 2004, has died. He was 92.

Pesky died Monday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, according to Solimine, Landergan and Richardson funeral home in Lynn. The funeral home did not have a cause of death.
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

  • Got to know him a little bit. Class act and at 70-some years old hit the best fungo you ever saw.

Eddie Popowski, Broadway Charlie and now Johnny all gone.
The best pitch to start a hitter off with is always strike one.

I see no sadness here, 92 years old, major league ballplayer, ex-Navy seaman, married to the same woman for 61 years, hopefully he knew the Lord cuz that's a great life!
