These have piled up over the past few months. Since I moved out of my old house last year, I feel like I can never stay caught up. Very frustrating.
First up is a 1993 Bowman match print photo, plus the card it was used to make:
Next are some color separation proofs from 1994 Stadium Club:
Cyan/Yellow, followed by Magenta/Yellow
Last up is the original camera-ready paste up for his 1986 Topps Super
which goes great with this separate piece, also from 1986 Topps Super. It is a color separation film positive and was used to produce the yellow tones in the final card image.

The last scan is not from Topps... but it is a contract, and I love showing it off.

The Hank Aaron signed contract is amazing, where did you find that?
<< <i>Did all the players get only $75 per year from Topps, or was it tiered? Did they share in sales or have any other renumaration from being on the baseball cards? That seems like a paltry sum, especially when they had to use it for items in the Topps catalog, LOL
Mike >>
Mike, I haven't seen a lot of other contracts, but it seems to me that they all were "paid" $75. It does seem a rather paltry sum, doesn't it? Can't even pocket the money, fer cryin' out loud!

Fellow board member Bob (rbdjr1) picked it up back in 2004 from an eBay auction. I remember when it came up, but I didn't have the stones to go after it. In June 2009 he posted a picture of it. I immediately PMed him, and he offered to sell it to me for the exact amount he paid for it. An incredibly nice gesture, in my opinion.

As far as the $75 per year goes, I was talking to an agent many years ago and if I remember correctly, most of the money paid by the baseball card companies goes to the MLBPA then back to the players as royalties as does the other licensed merchandise sales. The minor leaguers on baseball cards will receive more money though as they are not covered by the MLBPA. The players do however receive money for signing cards.
That was a while back so things may have changes since then too.

That was very cool of Bob. He's one of the good guys of the board.
BTW, love your Topps contract run, Congrats!!!

When I worked for the Cubs I asked a few of the players about their baseball card compensation and they said they receive a yearly pay out from the players association. This payout includes their cut of the money they get from the card companies for rights to their likeness as well as other forms of compensation the union gets on behalf of the players. I know, back in the 80's when I worked for the team the figure one player quoted me was around 50-70K per year each player received. I am sure it has increased quite a bit more since then.
from the auction description:
(2) Original Topps Baseball Player Gift List File Card. Direct from the Topps Vault comes this original Topps Gift List file card. Oversize file card measures approx. 5" X 8" and is in its original state. Topps maintained gift cards like these for many years. Card contains the player's gift choices and Topps baseball card payment history. Players were eligible each year for a gift from the Topps catalog or cash in exchange for their baseball card rights.
The first part has some cool pencil writing with some of his minor league movement in the early 80s (top left). Also noteworthy is that he was compensated a whopping $5 in 1979. Woo hoo!
This little section was cut out from another card that wasn't included, and was stapled to the first part at the top right of that file card.
This full-size file card has an obvious missing piece. Not sure what was written there, if anything.

While I was looking through a stack of stuff in one of my bookcases, I came across this item that I purchased back in 2010. These are the photo match prints for his 1995 Topps Stadium Club card, front and back.

I don't get the contract thing either - it looks like they decided - perhaps - to change the cycle by having him sign - one year later - in 1994.
Of interest - also - is that you picked up the later contract before the earlier?
The matchprints for the 95 TSC are very nice. Also - since there's "crop lines" on the first - it's more than just the "run of the mill" matchprint IMO.
Thanx for sharing.
I was expecting a very cool item, and that is exactly what I got. However, I wasn't expecting what came along for the ride. It appears to be a hand-drawn mockup of what the card was going to look like. It is done on some sort of thin plastic sheet.
Which all resulted in the final card.

<< <i>The drawn card is really neat, so what they just included it with your purchase? >>
yeah - there was no mention of it in the description, so it was a very nice surprise.

1985 Topps 'blackless' proof and 1985 Topps black & white blank back proof
I already had a couple others from 1985. I'm hoping I see more released at some point in the future.

<< <i>Meh. Guess I'll just let this thread die. Looks like I'm perceived as some sort of creeper just 'cause I happen to pick up a card or two every coupla months. I'll leave you guys to your fascinating blocked bidder accounts and whining about how USPS/PSA/eBay/buyer/seller screwed me threads. >>
Don't let some other members get you down....I for one enjoy your posts and like to see what new items you pick up!

Seconded.
I would probably collect more Brett but the Cleveland cards start me thinking about that trade and then I feel my inner Oliver Reed rising to the surface...
2005 Arizona Diamondbacks nameplate - this would go over his locker on road games when he was the first base coach with Arizona.
1981 Richmond Braves postcard - I didn't know this existed until it popped up on eBay.
1992 Topps contract from the Topps Vault - this is the 5th Topps contract in my collection.
Reno Aces bobblehead commemorating the Aces AAA Championship - I'd love to see a bobblehead released as a player someday.
2013 Pacific Coast League All-Star, 2013 Reno Aces (I don't have access to my scanner, so I borrowed the pic from the completed auction)
