Hello guys and girls. New member to your "universe". Advice?

Hello,
First post. I have really enjoyed reading, learning from this message board for quite some time. So decided to join. Unfortunately, registration took a few days to go thru so missed out on most of the new pack rips. Without taking up too much space, if I were to participate with a couple packs, who do I pay? Bbce, the moderator, a "collectors universe" account somewhere? Who do I contact with a specific question so that I don't take up space on the forum?

Also, any tips, protocol to follow or just simple advice for participating on the forum that y'all have learned over the years? Ive read some members are difficult and are better left ignored. Some don't follow common etiquette. Some threads get "hijacked" and go off on a tangent.

Opinions advice for a newbie that you wish someone told you in hindsight?

Thanks and looking forward to participating, sharing and learning more.

You'll need to turn on your messages. Message cincyredlegs for specific questions and pay BBCE if it's a BBCE rip.

image Glad you decided to go from lurker to member. Ask any questions about the board you want as we all had to learn at some point. If you turn your private message function on in your profile, you can send and receive messages from members who are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

As far as the BBCE CU group box breaks, you pay BBCE directly once all the boxes have sold out. There is still room on the current one if you'd like to join, even some football left I think.

One piece of advice would be to open a Photobucket account to post pictures from if you don't have one already. If you need help doing it, just let me know.

Take care and looking forward to your posts!!!

Here are the rules for the group breaks. After you read, if you have any questions, just PM me and I will answer. Welcome to the boards!!!!!!. Now, reserve some dang packs image

    PLEASE READ:

1.) PLEASE REALIZE IT MAY TAKE 7-10 DAYS TO SELL THIS OUT SO PLEASE BE PATIENT.

2.) WE HAVE HAD SOME ISSUES WITH PEOPLE NOT PAYING. IF YOU ARE GOING TO RESERVE PACKS, PLEASE PAY PROMPTLY. IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES, PLEASE CALL OR E-MAIL STEVE AND LET HIM KNOW. IF YOU HAVEN'T PAID WITHIN 10 DAYS OF THE END OF THE BREAK AND IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN WITH STEVE, YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR PACKS.

4.) THE 74 RACKS ARE ONLY 1/PERSON FOR THE FIRST 48 HOURS, 1/PERSON THE NEXT 48 HOURS AND THEN AS MANY AS YOU WANT AFTER 96 HOURS

Make sure for those of you who got boxes it's $12.00 shipping for the first box and $2.00 for each additional box in addition to the rate with packs.

For the first 48 Hours after this thread is listed you are limited to 2 packs per box. After 48 hours passes you can buy 2 more. After a full 96 hours has passed it is open game for anyone. WE must sell this out before payment can be made and packs can be shipped. Please reply to this thread with your packs, and don't PM me. Also only one box can be requested for the first 48 hours. The same logic holds true for boxes except the quantity changes to 1.

Steve has given us our usual 10% discount and here are the shipping charges and packs available:

Anyone can pay through paypal using account bbcexchange@sprintmail.com or can call at 800-598-8656 to use a credit card.

Please be sure and include your CU User Name when paying. Also please post when you have paid and I will mark you off the list :

    SHIPPING IS EXACT POSTAGE

$200 and under will need to add $6.00 for USPS shipping and insurance
$200 and over will be $8.00 plus $1.50 per $100.00 for insurance (insurance is optional, you don’t have to take it/pay for it, but the buyer assumes all risk).

If you want to participate please post in this thread with how many packs you want and I will keep track.

For those who have never done a group rip, once the lot's sell out you will need to contact bbce to make your payment. They will ship from their location to you directly.

Once we are sold out and you pay bbce please post in this thread or send me a pm so that I can track the progress.

Please if paying by Paypal or calling them with C.C. include your "FORUM NAME". They will need that, as there are a lot of different people involved in this rip.

    Welcome,

Always great to have someone else to share ideas with.

You've already received a number of good pieces of advice from some great people.

The advice I will give you is to try to remember what this message board is supposed to be about. Try not to let
yourself get dragged into any of the negativity that usually comes from insecure people trying to cause trouble.
Keep it loose and light. Share you ideas and don't be shy about stating an opinion, but don't cross the
line of being civil and polite.

    Have fun and enjoy!

  • Great message board here. I've been active here for almost 6 years. I've been away pretty much for about 7-8 months for various reasons but I'm back! Don't let a few trolls run you from the boards.

    Hi and welcome!

Having been here for a few days now, my advice is simple: treat people like you would as if they were sitting right next to you. The diversity of ideas here welcomes tolerance rather than belligerence - we can surely agree to disagree.

I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts and ideas on the hobby. Don't be a stranger! image

the response has been great. Thanks to cincyredlegs, CPA Ike, 70topps, grote, llafoe etc for making me feel very welcome. I feel there's a positive attitude from over 95% of the board. Cincyredlegs has really gone out of his way, so thank u.
I'll probably at first learn more than what I can contribute. But I will say this as far as message boards go.... Usually its a few or many bad apples who are continuously negative which brings a forum down. Here, most everyone is very knowledgeable and willing to share with others.

Excited to see what u guys are gonna turn up with this HUGE group rip. Shouldn't there be at least 2-3 Jordan rookies coming from a box? Will most people here post their results?

?.. From what I've read the latest couple of 1975 topps mini boxes from the case bbce has opened resulted in alot of off centered cards. Is this indicative of what may follow in the remaining boxes? I'm a little late to this group rip but may buy a few of those packs.

  • Llafoe!
Just read ur post. Didn't realize u were serving. Wanted to thank u for serving our country. My father, uncle etc all have served. To keep it baseball related. Is there anything in place to send, ship some cards/packs to our men and women serving?

What do u specialize in with ur collection? Maybe we can talk about that and memories of collecting. Maybe to provide u an escape from where u are.

    And thank u again!
  • Hi bbg,
I think I remember following a thread of urs. Are u the one that built a great high quality 1979 topps PSA set from scratch? If so, is that even feasible now a days with the scarcity of unopened material?

How do most put together a high quality set?
