I received a few 1 oz American Eagle platinum coins this morning and some of the weights are inconsistent.
stack 1+2 are 31.1 g each,
stack 3 is 31.2 g each
stack 4 is 31.3 g each
i can understand 31.2 in SOME of them, but it seems to be pretty off, no?

precision of your scale?
Compare the coin details of those with different weights to eliminate counterfeit possibility. Would help to have a certified one to compare with.

is there any correlation of date with your measured weights?
I could imagine that the mint would intentionally make the first years' issues on the high side of the tolerance range, and calibrate to get them more exaclty at the center of the spec as time goes by and they get more experience. Better one or two tenths of a gram heavy, than even a little bit light
btw, nice pic, those must be fun to have.

Yeah, I'd get a more precise scale if the one you have is only good to 0.1 g. Such a scale would surely cost far less than that stack of Pt!
