Anyone buy scrap platinum jewelry?

I like platinum but I hate the premiums on the platinum coins .

Lots of people like to buy gold scrap jewelry and feel that its pretty liquid and its easy find it used in just about every form of jewelry.

I have no experience with platinum used as jewelry ,what types of platinum jewelry are most common? Does it come in several different purities like gold or just 1 or 2? Is it mostly modern pieces or vintage or what?

Anyone have any good links with information about its use in jewelry?

    950 purity,

    mostly rings, settings for diamond rings

    i've seen platinum in 900 and 950.

    Rare to find 900 fine, the standard is 950.

    Our wedding band are marked "PLAT" . I do buy platinum, yes, mostly rings are what I have gotten.

    Ive seen several different grades
    .950 most common
    .900 fairly rare
    .800 european
    .750 as low as you can go

    Largely rings in .900 and .950
    the .800 and .750 is usually necklaces, men cuban or figgaro chain style. theyre quite interesting since they look like scrap metal.

    I haven't had a chance to get to any coin shops so I looked on ebay , it doesn't seem very common compared to gold jewelry . I found one listing in the scrap platinum category for jewelry .

    according to the description 1 ring says 950 and the other merely says PLAT without a number

    Do you test platinum with acid in the same way as you would test gold? It seems to me that the seller of the item would have noted it if he had tested the purity image
