Anyone ever seen/heard of a 1990 Action Packed Basketball Sample "WHITE VARIATION"???.....

With all the collector knowledge on here, maybe we can figure this out. I stumbled on this Ebay auction for a "white variation" of the Jordan Action packed sample. The information on this auction states the white ones are extremely rare. I have a "White" Patrick Ewing and always thought I had a "screwed up" version as they always have gold borders. Mine is ungraded, but appears perfect or at least a 9. Bottom line is......what kind of price would you put on this card if I were to sell it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have never been aware of the white version, and I have always actively bought the Magic Johnson card from this set. If you have a picture, or if anyone else has a white Magic Johnson, I would love to see it.

I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !

Back in the era those were made, I was at a show and purchased a bunch
of singles including The Basketball as well as Hockey and Football.
(The hockey featured Gretzky, Lemieux and Yzerman)

I also purchased (3) UNCUT sheets with the entire set including an unknown
    checklist on the sheet.

I gave one of them to my brother, I kept one and sold the other one.
    Still have mine.

In all of those bunches of singles I had, I never saw ANY white ones that I can
    ever recall.

This is probably not much help, but, thought you'd like to know my experience
    with them.

Thanks. The gold samples have been around for a while and are always for sale on ebay, etc.
Just have never seen the white ones for sale until the white Jordan auction and the info it had.
It seems like it has people stumped........maybe it is that rare?

  • I have a few of the white variation of the Ewing and Jordon card. Back when I had a card shop back in the day. The white versions was actually a test card for the Action Packed card but the NBA wouldn't grant a rights Action Packed card, but they already had printed a small amount of them before they were denied (Don't know how many). All the gold ones was alreaded being printed, so they stoped printing of the gold ones and put the words SAMPLE on the back of them since they had no rights to print them. Now I have only seen four of the Michael Jordan (White Sample) and about 20 of the Patrick Ewing ones. I have never seen any other of the white varations of any other player. All that I know about.
