I've seen worse in a PSA 9 holder--definitely worth a review or crack and resub, imo...at the very least, that card is a great example of what an 8.5 looks like.

Thanks Tim for your input. The card looks better than the scan, alot sharper. Photo bucket didn't do a verfy good job on this one.

Is there a lot of smudging in the yellow above and around Twins?

To the left of the twins even with the T is a tiny little speck of red that I can see with a glass 10 X

It may be the scan, but I'm seeing black on the top edge above the T and W.

I don't believe the very faint print marks which are magnified because of the scan would prevent that card from grading higher, at least an 8.5 anyway. I've submitted a lot of 75 Topps cards and print defect on that card is very slight. Carew is a super tough card in Mint 9 from that set so I think PSA is tougher on that. If this card were Bill Freehan it would already be a Mint 9, imo.

Edit to add: how is back centering?

The black your seeing is the yellow paint is off the edge of the card in a small area, looking under the glass.

It's borderline but some graders won't like the T/B centering

I have had much better results with cards centered higher as opposed to lower. This card is definitely within parameters for PSA 9 centering.

  • Unless the back is really jacked up, I say it is absolutely worth a shot.

PSA is giving out a lot of PSA 8's lately. Its just the way it is.

PSA is BRUTAL on the '75's.

Don't be surprised if it comes back an 8 again and again.

    Good luck.
