Newp of my favourite portrait type ever

I have two George IV laurel head halfcrowns, but this is my first shilling with the same portrait. If I had only a box of 20 this would be in there without a doubt!

I'm not going to reveal the assigned grade quite yet. Here's the same coin as it appeared raw on HA a few years ago. To be completely honest I am not sure how the photographer managed to make such a pretty coin look so unflattering. Light diffusing through the slab might hide some of the light marks, but even if I were trying to take a pic that showed that much chatter on it, I don't think I possibly could.

Just goes to show that grading from a photo isn't easy or maybe even possible to hit the nail on the head with high AU/MS grades.

Thanks for the links Lochness. I am guessing it was the older man with the mansion, but who knows. I googled some more and couldn't find any link to that name and numismatics.

PS the NGC grade is MS63 on this piece. I think it's accurate as it's just a bit too chattery for 64. But with the loosening of grading standards an upgrade wouldn't be impossible. I'll be keeping it as is. I really like it and a different number on the plastic wouldn't make me like it any more or less!
