How do you feel when the PO damages a card and the buyer wants

How do you feel when the PO damages a card and the buyer wants you to cover the cost of shipping it back to you as well?

I had my first package get damaged by the PO and the bidder asked for a full refund + the cost of bubble mailer/shipping back to him. The card was only 15 bucks.

I just find it kinda pathetic to ask someone to pay you for a bubble mailer.

Thoughts?

I paid it. Just deciding whether I want to block them or not.

I would like to block them too... many more fish in the sea, so I don't mind weeding out the stinky ones.

Man what a cheep azz that buyer is. The Post is going down hill fast must be all the layoffs. Block and move forward.
  • That is very petty. Thats like me going back to the card store after purchasing a box of cards after noticing a few cards are stuck together - I return the box back and then asking for gas money.

    Block them

sometimes the money spent on a bubble mailer is worth the knowledge that you never have to deal with them again....lol.

The guy has 7300 feedback on ebay and I blocked him.

Yep, he charged me 2.50 to ship a card that costs 1.64 ship. I just paid and blocked.

Still have my fingers crossed the ahole doesnt neg me or give me a neutral.

before he sent the item back?

How much did you charge him for shipping? If its damaged, why not just let him keep it?
  • I kind of see this a little different!

Yes, I agree 100% that this buyer is a cheap A** and I would never dream of asking for return shipping. In fact, being a $15 card, I probably would have thrown the card away left positive feedback, unless I felt that the packaging was poor. But I don't think that's the case because you said that was your first damaged.

But here'e where I don't see eye to eye with so many others!

The sports card industry must be doing awful well now. All sellers must be making top dollar on all their sales, at least that's what I would think reading these posts. The first answer to any problem is "Block em"

This buyer has 7300 feedback? That seems like a lot of possible sales, or, at least bids that will increase what your auctions go for. Multiply this by the many bidders and buyers you are all blocking over the years. I don't know, doesn't seem very smart to me.

I'm not saying the real bad ones should not be blocked, but that should not be the first thought as a solution to a problem.
I would rather find a way to work with this buyer and just maybe, sometimes, this type of customer could turn out to be one of your best customers!

But, it's your business! You, of course, have the option to run it as you see fit, even if you don't want to make money!
This is written in the attempt to be constructive, so please don't block me!!!image

No, I waited until I got the card back. I just wanted to see the damage and see if it was really damaged in transit(which it was).

Maybe you can tell him that you want to be reimbursed for the cost of the bubble mailer now cuz the PO damaged it with their ink stamps. Shouldnt you expect to get a flawless bubble mailer because you paid for a new one?

As a seller, I wouldn't expect a buyer to have to pay out of his own pocket shipping expenses to send something back to me in a "damaged item" situation. Sellers are responsible for getting an item to the buyer safely, and unfortunately that also includes the time that the item is not in our hands.

As a seller, you want to avoid winning the battle but losing the war.

You may feel buyer is taking advantage of you, but in the long run you will do better to just issue the refund and move on. This is a common practice in any good business.

I would've told the buyer to just send the card back in the same bubble mailer that got damaged (and perhaps just tape over the damaged parts). This happened once to me for a $5 card, and I told the buyer to just keep the damaged card, and I would give him a full refund.
  • I have had 3 cards damaged in the last 2 months by the PO. They were all returned for a refund. The PO is slacking lately in my opinion.
