Calling 1954 Cookie Hank Aaron experts please.

Hey guys. I just got a 1954 Cookie Hank Aaron and I know there are several fakes out there. And this is the first one Ive owned or handled of its kind. If yall would be so kind to give yalls expert opinions on the auth of this card I would appreciate it. I smells and looks old. It also has wax on the front of the card. You can see it its more of a cloudy white wax near his face. You can also see it on the bottom corners. Also how were these cards packaged? Again thanks for yalls help.

  • Not an expert on the issue but have owned a couple and all the ones I owned had very white borders and yours does not look very white, could just be age but imo it just looks off, sorry hope its nothing.

That was my feeling as well, but it does smell and look legit other than its not white. Its a cream. Looks like it might be stained from the package or something. Was wondering how it was produced bc it has a lot of wax on the front. Thanks for the post.
Anyone seen one like this one or with wax?

I was not at all familiar with the set. Here is one I found online.

It looks a lot different. Who is to say this one is legit?

Took down this 2nd LINK. Was not working.

From looking at a few of the RP online it looks like the Johnston is printed cut off and has a space on the edge as if copied from an original. I feel its real but its not white like the others. Im going to send it to PSA tomorrow and hope for the best I guess.
Any info would be great. And thanks doug for the post

It looks different being stained, but it does appear to be a lithograph; that's a good sign.

    Just graded today.
PSA said N5 altered stock. So Im guessing it has water damage of some kind or food staining which caused them not to give a # grade? By doing that I think that means the card is authentic dont yall? I was worried the card might be a fake. N5 doesnt tell me if they thought it was fake or not. So im going to have to send it to one of the other 2 grading companies to get a grade I guess. A little disapointed with the grade as would anyone else. A N5 is like geting a 12 on a Math test in High school.

Wont they grade it as authentic if it was real? I am not sure how that normally works.
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!

I didnt check the box to allow them to slab it if it is altered in some way as authentic. Its in the same boat as the Mis Cuts they wont put it in a slab if I understand it correctly?
or its like a trimmed card. They dont just put authentic and put it in a case for you. I would have liked that actually to give me peace of mind.

Also the Altered stock makes me think its an authentic card. Because if it was a reprent they would have said "Auth?" No Grade.. So I think its leget now, just stained.

And Im guessing they gave it altered stock because the stock is suposed to be white and mine is cream.
