Crack-Out Debacle

After cracking dozens of packs and cards out of PSA flips without incident, it finally happened. I was cracking out a beautiful 1970 Maury Wills PSA 8. That card deserved at least an 9. It was gorgeous. I was using a pair of small pliers, it cracked at an odd angle - and bent/creased the top right corner.

It's barely a $15 card in 8, and yet, I feel really bad about it. Like I desecrated fine art or some antiquity. I am posting this here as this is the only place where there could possibly be anyone who could understand my angst. I am sure I will bounce back though!

I ripped it up and threw it in the garbage very quickly.

If it was a big-name, I might have broke out the dremel.

I had my first crack-out mishap the other day. I was cracking a 2004 Leaf Certified Material Mirror Black 1/1 Roy Campanella out of a Beckett slab (seriously, who grades a 1/1?) and shot a screwdriver into the shiny metalic surface. It would have been REALLY bad if the card condom wasn't there to take the brunt of the abuse. Still left a nice little indention on the surface. Oh well, I'll just buy another one to replace it. Oh wait.
