The National - vintage Hockey cards

I collect mostly vintage hockey cards and was wondering is it worth my while to go to the National for hockey cards?

I saw a couple of stands with a lot of hockey but not nearly as much as baseball or football.
    What I Collect:

PSA HOF Baseball Postwar Rookies Set Registry- (Currently 80.51% Complete)

PSA Pro Football HOF Rookie Players Set Registry- (Currently 19.80% Complete)

PSA Basketball HOF Players Rookies Set Registry- (Currently 6.02% Complete)
  • There were some nice higher end vintage but not the quantity like baseball and football. I still saw enough to make it worthwhile even though I could only make it for Friday afternoon. Had a blast though. Hopefully next year I'll be able to meet some of you guys if I can convince my wife to let me fly out there.
  • Thanks for the update.....you guys kinda confirmed what I figured about vintage hockey cards.....I still think I would have an amazing time.

I did not attend this years' National, but in the last few I've attended(last two years plus the '06 one in Anaheim), there was a dealer from Canada(I believe somewhere in Ontario) who deals exclusively with vintage hockey. His booth is distinctive because he doesn't use cases. All his cards are under plastic wrap and makes it clear for collectors to not reach under the wrap. His prices are firm, but he has a very good selection of all the '50s-'60s cards. As a collector of the '54HK set, I've bought a few from him. I don't know about the other sets, but there are not many other dealers that carry '54s and fewer that would have them in higher grade like that guy.

How about autographed 60's and 70's hockey? I'm looking for a dealer that specializes in it.

He was at the National again this year. I've seen him around at many of the big shows; he's been a staple at the Shriners show in Boston (Wilmington) for years.
