So I have about 15k baseball/basketball cards..

The baseball cards range from the 70s-early 90s and the basketball cards are in the 90s. I haven't collected for over 12 years so they've just been sitting in boxes/books. What, if anything, should I look for? Any cards during those time frames worth anything? Should I be looking for a garbage can?? image

When I was younger I pretty much had them organized by key players during the time of the 90s so I should be able to track them easily if there is anything that I might have that would be worth while. Thanks!

Take the next several weeks, scan them ALL and post it on this thread! image Basketball look for Jordan subset inserts and if you have any (Fleer 86-88) Baseball look for rookies in the 70s and 80s stuff and guys like Griffey Jr, Jeter, A rod, etc...in the 90s. Have fun! image

Don't think I could even accomplish that in a few weeks might take a few months. I remember the Griffey Jr. upper deck rookie card being the one to have back in the day. Unfortunately I never got my hands on it. Did the 70s & 80s baseball cards always state Rookie on them? For some reason I remember looking at the stats on the back and if it didn't have more than 1 year listed it or something it was a rookie card? I'm just getting flashbacks right now so I could be wayyyy off image
  • So I looked through some of my basketball cards and a few I had stored in individual hard plastic (I guess they may have been worth something at the time) are:

    Fleer-Traditions 98-99, Grant Hill: Great Expectations #6 of #10
    Topps-Apparitions 1998, Anfernee Hardaway #A9
Team Skybox Premium 1998 Michael Jordan #235
    Fleer-Rookie Sensations 97-98, Keith Van Horn #10 of #10 R5
Fleer Ultra 96-97 Kobe Bryant Rookie Card #52
Fleer Ultra 94-95 Grant Hill Rookie Card #239
Fleer 97-98 Kobe Bryant Soaring Stars #4 of #20 SS
    Topps 1996 Kobe Bryant NBA 50 #138
    Fleer 97-98 Allen Iverson Zone #9 of #15 Z
Skybox 1998 Keith Van Horn Lift Off #9 of #10 LO
Fleer Ultra 95-96 Kevin Garnett Rookie Card #274

Do I have anything worth while or should I stop wasting my time and wait another 10 years to look this stuff over again? image

    Go to sportlots.com

Do a search for the cards you just listed.

That way you can see yourself what others are selling those cards for.

Or you can go to eBay.com and do a completed items search to see if you have any hidden gems.

    Good luck.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

Condition of the cards determine how much "Value" there might be, but of course a card is really only worth what someone is willing to pay you for it. You can check these cards against completed Ebay auction and see what someone was willing to pay recently(assuming the auction was 100% legit!). That will give you a better idea. Some of those cards if they graded Gem Mint 10(highest on the PSA scale) would probably be worth more than you might think....or maybe not! image I have lots of cards in toploaders that I should have sold long ago that I could probably not sell for a penny with free shipping these days!! image

I'm going out on a limb by thinking he may have been on the coin side, yes?

Yeah U.S. Coin Forum...first time I've ever posted in this section.

I thought about doing a completed item check on eBay to check values so I suppose I'll give that a shot. Never heard of sportlots.com either so I'll check them out as well.

    Thanks for the info guys!
