Ah, good. WB2 fixed the pic. I tried and botched it.
That's pretty intriguing, considering what later happened to ol' Louis XVI. The other scratches/cuts make me wonder if it isn't just coincidental, but the one across the neck IS deeper and more deliberate looking. I'd say there's a good chance you've got yourself an actual damnatio memoriae piece, there. Very cool. (Even if the cut is just a coincidence.)
I've seen various Kennedy halves with marks on the head around where the fatal bullet struck the real man, etc., etc. And of course damnatio memoriae are well known in Roman coins.
Yes, the Preview option is dead, now. Another obsolescence of this old forum software. There's an ongoing rant about it on the Liteside as we speak, because other functionalities of the site seem to be dying off and incompatible with newer browsers. I just tried to fetch an image from my Upload Box, to no avail.
Oh yeah- Advanced Search doesn't work anymore, either.
I've had one of these for a long time altho in much lower grade. I thought that this might be a version of the Damnatio Memoria one sees on the coins of particularly unpopular Roman emperors. Was not sure it was contemporary since the cuts could have been made anytime so its nice to see at least one other coin received similar treatment.
Interestingly, my coin has cut throats on both sides. Guess Madame Guillotine was working overtime and was taking no chances.
Always interested in St Louis MO & IL metro area and Evansville IN national bank notes and Vatican/papal states coins and medals!

I use Flickr just fine. After uploading, from your Photostream page:
1) Click on the photo, which opens that Photo's page. 2) Click the grey "Share" dropdown menu (upper-left corner of the screen) 3) Under "Grab the HTML/BBCode" is a field with lots of code. Make sure "BBCode" is selected, not HTML, then copy/paste the code between "img" and "/img" into any post.

Oh and thank making it work.
I didn't know there was a term for that, cool.

I tried trimming your URL down but my fix didn't work, either. I see WB2 had to post a screenshot.
When posting, use the http link icon just below "Message Text:" to insert a http/html link.
By the way, since around August 1, my "Preview" does not work.
Anyone else have this problem?
