FREE listings for the rest of the year on eBay?

I heard that someone announced this at the National:



<< <i>Sellers who list Auction-style or Fixed Price in the Sports Memorabilia, Cards & Fan Shop category from August 19, through December 31, 2012, will pay no Insertion Fees per item listed ("Promotion"). The Buy It Now option may also be added to these listings for free. 1-day Auction-style listings are excluded from this Promotion. See below for maximum amount of listings per month. Fees for optional features and Final Value Fees will still apply. This Promotion applies to both eBay Stores subscribers and sellers who do not have an eBay Stores subscription. >>

Thoughts? Will this be good or bad? Why do you think eBay doing this?

    I thought we were getting a certain amount of free listings already?
    IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

    I think the free listings are for auction style and not fixed price. I just listed a few items with BIN's and was charged a fee.

    It starts August 19th.

    Right now, non-Store members get 50 free auction listings per month, Store members get nothing.

    Beginning Augsut 19th (apparently), non-Store members will get 500 free listings per month (auction or BIN) in the Sports Cards and Memorabilia category ONLY, and Store members will get 5,000 or 10,000 free listings per month (depending on your Store level) in the Sports Cards and Memorabilia category ONLY.

    Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

    This is great. As an ebay store subscriber, I'm ecstatic. I only list when there are no insertion fees, and for the first time in a while, this did not happen during the entire month of July. I'll get ready to list more stuff starting Aug 19th.

    Sounds neat.... I would probably list some commons with BIN.

    Sounds great but there's always an end game with ebay.

    I will just about guarantee there will be a fee hike next year either
    with FVF's or with the pictures that ebay now gives for free.
    As a company, they've had some pretty good recent months for their
    stock price driven by paypal fee's. In 2013, they will need to jack up
    something else in order to continue the money train rolling.
