anyone else here book an online Southwest flight tonight and have the credit card hit 17 times? Received 17 confirmation emails as well. Seems a Southwest computer glitch is raking in money all over the country tonight. Maybe I'll get a free flight when the dust settles - coin show of my choice?
edited to add: up to 26 confirmations, card has got to max out soon!

26 tickets on the same plane for the price of only 13. . . what a deal.

<< <i>Sounds like you need to take 26 friends along on your trip. Hope you're going someplace fun! Me, I spent yesterday at Lake Washington shootin' pictures of the Blue Angels running though their routine for SeaFair. Pretty much fun for a guy from West Texas! >>
Great idea! unfortunately the 26 tickets are for the same seat.

Probably has their flight booking system all screwed up. Can you imagine the number of flights that show up as overbooked. SW is downplaying the number of people affected in the news and I was still receiving additional confirmations and CC charges on Saturday for the single ticket purchase.
Poor damage control as their website avoids the issue and they are eliminating customer complaints on their facebook page. Based on the number of facebook page complaints I have seen appear (and then dissappear), a whole lot of unhappy customers were affected. Seeing that they have email addresss for the all the bogus confirmations they are sending out (and charging for) one would think the affected customers would get an email about the issue. Haven't heard a peep from them except to receive more confirmations for the same purchase. This has gotta be a nightmare for their public relations and the longer they wait to proactively contact each of the affected customers the more it will probably hurt their otherwise good image.
They remain my airline of choice.

Southworst does not do assigned seating. If you have 26 tix, you've got 26 seats, if you have 26 friends with the same name as yours.
I did see some complaints out there that SW was telling callers that it could take 8-10 days to reverse the charges, and that many ppl that used debit cards were overdrawn, and that ppl were pushed over their card limits and sustained fees from their issuer.
One good side effect of the SW sale is that I scored r/t tix for half-off on their subsidiary AirTran for an upcoming show.

Wow, big blunder for them. Feel for them as I work with customer software as well. Someones going to be held responsible for that one. Stuff happens with that much software overhead.
I do feel for the folks with only one car or debit card locked up. You'd think the card company could help and reject the multiple items from the card. Getting something like a hugh amount of free miles is fair but going to hurt them of course. Ouch.
