Unknown Medal(?) A little bit bigger than a US Quarter. Any Help would be appreciated

    I can't speak/read spanish so here's a shot, 20yr independence for peru.

    Yeap, Peru. The obverse reads: "Free Lima JCRO - Its Independence on July 28 of 1821". The reverse reads: "Under the protection of the freeing military (or forces) sent by Saint Martin 1849".

    It looks really nice!
  • I thought it was from Peru as well - but wasnt sure. Its pretty nice, found it in a scrap silver foreign coin lot.

    I too would have pulled it, always nice to find odd pieces. I dont get a whole lot of em up here in North Dakota.

    Where do you go hunting? Seriously, local dealers? Flea markets? Antique malls?

    I know the feeling, often - but then I wonder if it's because there are so many floating around to be found in any State ...
