A lot of nice stuff but I'm shocked there's really nothing when it comes to 60s baseball wax. Have they really dried up that much?

I would say yes...surprised, too, that there are really no 70s cello packs, either..

    Wow what a display.

I like the Dickerson rack pack

Steve shared with me that he's got a box of 50's Bowman wax arriving by the weekend (I can't remember the exact year - I was a little star struck talking to him - as sad as that sounds). Who knows, if history serves, the box might sell before it makes the display case.

sadly I will not be making it this year. But man oh man, what a display BBCExchange has set up.

If I found $5,000, i would have trouble spending it -- there is just so much great stuff.

    Great job Steve and Reed

Manny ... IF you found $5,000.00? It's just a matter of which pocket you reached into. We know you have your "unopened pack" money to go at all times! LOL Hope all is going well.

this could be another thread...."how much you had to spend for college that you would have preferred to spend on cards".....my recent donation of almost 6K went to Ohio U. for my son's freshman tuition.....hope he will appreciate it....

Yowzers. My brother went through Tisch. He could have had close to a half case case of 86/87 fleer basketball after tuition, room & board, etc.

Speaking of which, I would love a group rip of 86/87 fleer basketball, if any of those boxes make it out of National alive.

When I was at the BBCE booth today, some dude bought 2 1959 Fleer Ted Williams wax boxes. Also saw someone trying to sell Steve a 1952 Topps Wax paxk graded by GAI but Steve stayed away.

I would like to have purchased the 1954 Bowman wax box but I didn't bring that extra $45K with me.

I had not busted packs for several years. Today, at the BBCE booth, I fell off the wagon and bought seven 1986-87 Fleer BB packs. Reed was great. I could tell he was bummed I didnt pull a MJ. I did sell about two thirds of the raw cards for 1200.00 at the show and that helped it not sting as bad.

Did you have the cards graded on site? 1,200 for 2/3 of 7 packs of raw cards is an amazing price to get!

I met him at the PSA booth because I was going to go ahead sub my cards. His name is Jason and I have known him for years back when I was flipping years ago. He gets better grades than I do and he was willing to gamble.

I had a few that were REALLY nice and tons that were centered and nine qualtiy. One of the reasons I kept busting was the cards were coming out really clean and centered. I had a Dominque that was a 9/10, Checklist that was probably a 9, Malone, Jabar, Two Isiah, Magic, Mullin all that were 9/10 quality and a few others I took 1100.00 in cash and 100.00 cards for the lot. I had two of the Jeff Malones and they both looked 9ish to me.

A lot of our crew saw the cards and they were really nice. I saw the buyer take them back to Steve at BBCE so I am sure Steve can vouch for me that I sold them for that.

I thought he was giving me too much and that is why I sold them instead of subbing them myself.

Steve wouldnt crack a fresh box so I went up to the Topps event and that was pretty cool. He will probably sell those boxes for 14K so I think he prefer keep those intact.

There are some really cool people on this board when you meet them in person.

This is interesting....he better slam 10's on those because you rolled him
  • No they opened 14 packs and hit two jordan stickers but no rookies. We were all bummed watching them. Nate (80s collector) hands were shaking. It was fun watching though.

I feel for ya Manny. As you know, Christina is heading to Loyola MD at the end of this month. The tuition is JUST a bit high (lol). The school is 5-6 miles directly north of the Convention Center in Baltimore ... where THE NATIONAL is going on as we speak. Maybe I should have spent all that money there instead! Oh, I can dream about all the unopened product I could have had! HAHAHA

I'll concur with Tim. $6-8k, possibly a bit less of the wrapper is in off shape.

I feel your pain with the tuition guys- my son is starting high school and the tuition is only $10 less a month than my mortgage payment!

as I've noted I'm feeling the tuition pain and it really grinds me the way they nickel and dime you along the way....orientation fees, miscellaneous fees, book fees, room and board, meals, meet the school president fee, etc, etc, etc....by the way the last one was not real but that's probably due to someone hasn't thought of it yet....
