Any 79 experts? I have a 79 #55 Stargell PSA 9. Not sure of its value, 8's are going for around $100. Any ideas? Thanks

Go into your profile and set your private messages to allow. Then in the search bar type 1979. He has a thread toward the top of the page. Click into the thread and then click the thing that looks like a lock beside his post. Type your message and his send private message. That should do the trick! And to add, Bobby gave you an average based on some of the past auctions for the card, but they are 2010 and older and I think the card is more in demand these days and will bring more than the $108.50 average!
  • Thanks and I see that avg. if Im reading right that is for 9's but I see an 8 sold for just about that on ebay and another 8 just fell off their sold list because of time, sold for about the same, just not sure how much more for the 9 thanks again for the info.

Not sure either. It hasn't had a recorded sale in over 2 years. Last sale was for $108.50. I would list it on Ebay for 99 cents and see where it landed. I predict between $150-$200.

That's a tough card to find in PSA 9 grade. Should attract quite a bit of interest on ebay. Good luck!

I'd run an auction, start bidding at 250
  • Whats a PSA 10 or BVG 9.5 worth?

  • << <i>Whats a PSA 10 or BVG 9.5 worth? >>

There are no PSA 10's. PSA 9 population is only 22. Only 3 PSA 9's have sold in the last 4.5 years.
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all "right-thinking" people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as “bad luck.”
  • Paul, is the tilt keeping it out of a 10 slab?

That looks great. Looks like black spots near right border maybe why its not a 10

The 79s are tough to find without that tilt on the bottom. I would also agree it's the black marks on the right side that would keep it from a gem mint grade. PSA 10s are a real crap shoot to begin with anyway.

  • hammered offered the best advice. This card should have been listed on ebay, in auction format, with a high opening bid.

I hope the OP didn't get taken here with a lowball offer based on outdated VCP but I suspect he did.

The card should have been listed on Ebay at 99 cents and ran for 10 days. Even better consigned with PWCC or Probstein.

"I hope the OP didn't get taken here with a lowball offer"

Why would this be your first inclination? My first thought was that I bet BBG made such a good offer the seller was pleased he didn't have to go through the hassle of listing it on ebay.

Very nice! I'm still looking for one of those.
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

  • Paul, I have not been on the board lately, you are welcome. Its up to you to let the price out, I can say this, out of 6 other top registry members that I spoke with, you were the best, with no lowballing to start, sure I might have got a couple bucks more on Ebay, but I believe it went to a good home. On the funny side there are a few set registry memebers that are a little envious of you. I will be listing my Stargell PSA 8 tomorrow, im thinking 110-140 will be interesting to see where it falls. Thanks again Paul and good luck improveing your set. TV
