St. Louis Show Large Cent Newps

jmski52jmski52 Posts: 23,225 ✭✭✭✭✭
I had a good talk with Tom Reynolds and learned some good stuff, as usual. Had an informative chat with James Garcia, and I met a nice fellow by the name of Jim Sego as well.

I spent a fair amount of time looking and decided on these. Now that I re-learned how to post a pic, here's my newps:

    You're good!

    Depending on the grader, the grading estimates are: MS63 Brn to MS65, MS63 to MS64 Brn, XF40+ to XF45, MS-63+ to MS-64, and MS-63 to MS-64 Brn/MS-64+.

Thank you for the nice words.

    Very nice copper!
Had the Reynolds 'hoard' of 1793 Wreath cents dwindled? At Summer FUN, he had a nice display of 19 Wreath cents on a black felt board.
When I voiced my amazement, he said he had already sold 3 of the 22 that he had brought with him!

I counted about 11 Wreath Cents and Tom talked me out of one of them. No matter, I didn't have enough money for it.image

I love the '20 (nix the dark areas), the color of this coin is my favorite for copper IMHO. image

I like the '40 the best but am slightly concerned about the color/surfaces.

    Nice! The surfaces look lovely.

  • Nice examples! I purchased a few early coppers/colonials from Tom back in the mid/late 80s. I wish I still had them.

Some very nice copper you've got there. I haven't bought a coin or been to show yet this year. Really looking forward to Manchester, NH in September.

Really nice pieces - wish I could have made the show.

For some strange reason I can't explain, the 1817 cents are my favorite date.
And I like that one a lot!

If I hit the lottery, Tom Reynolds is one one of the first tables I'd visit. James is a good guy that I've known for years. He just got a promotion with Scotsman I believe.

Those are great looking early coppers!
  • I'm in the RYK camp with congrats on the 40. Neat coin. Color is a little funky but it's not in hand so who knows. Nice pickups.
