Before anyone can say it, I will, a concept called "due diligence". I don't see evidence of the crack on the right side. Is it possible we've moved into a new age of counterfeiting? Cracking open a legit card for the label, encapsulating it themselves with holders from the same manufacturer and sonic sealing them?

Lastly, nobody trades the most iconic postwar card in the hobby for cards worth a few grand and thru the mail. Alarms should have went off with the " I have 52 Topps Mantle to trade", "I can't sell it over eBay" and that final fact the owner of the Mantle "sent first". Sorry but I dont feel sorry for him.

<< <i>PSA is not at all helpful, and they actually are enabling this scammer by using crappy card cases that can be easily cracked. >>

100% agree. PSA slabs need a major overhaul. Take a few notes from Beckett's case, maybe, especially for high dollar cards like this one.

The same flimsy slab used to encapsulate a 1990 Donruss Sammy Sosa PSA 8 should not be used to encapsulate a 1952 Topps Mantle.

There was a guy on sportscardforum just yesterday who was trying to sell a fake PSA 5.5 mantle. The cert number was good, but it was a fake card.
