Met dpeck today and the wrestling all star collection!!!

Greetings everyone!
I have a work training in Orlando, Florida and have been staying at a hotel all week. I sent a message to DPeck and he came by and picked me up and we went over to his house. A very impressive collection of wrestling all stars to say the least, a great display in a man cave, and it was fun to see his passion for wrestling cards. I am a bit perplexed that his collection did not win the Misc. Category for the PSA awards this year. I would have to think that he would win in 2013 as I thought he was the best bet to take home the award in 2012.

On another note, he was a fantastic host for a few drinks and dinner and I was able to meet his wife, neighbor, and brother. His wife was very kind, personable, and beautiful, his brother was nice and pleasant, and his neighbor was a good guy himself. His neighbor did not have the best of nights and all parties were patient with him and took care of him. I recall threads a while ago which I am choosing to not bring up and there were hurtful personal attacks on his wife and brother in addition to Dpeck himself. Let me just say that I think that any personal attacks on CU members friends and family should always be off limits and we should always be discussing the hobby and our passion of collecting no matter what we collect. I personally have no interest in Three Stooges, but there is clearly a market for it and can respect those who do as we are a lot more similar than we are different in regards to our interest in the hobby. I had a a great time and would welcome DPeck to California and will have a place for him to visit with whomever he chooses to bring with him. A classy and good guy. I think most people on the boards now recognize that DPeck is a good guy, but there was a time in which there was a mob mentality against him, his wife, and brother and I'm here to tell you that whomever made comments on them is wrong on so many levels. I figured as such when it was posted, but tonight I have nothing but good things to say about our Wrestling All Star expert!

Thank you for taking time to welcome me into your home and meet those close to you. My best to you and I will see you here on the boards and ebay. :-)

The mob mentality on this board is stupid. There are alot of good members on this board. That is the one thing I have hated about this board.

The mob mentality or the good members?

    I kid. I kid.

edited to add: I know a couple of people from this board personally and couldn't agree more that there are many good people here. It's the bad apples (trolls & alts) that ruin it for the rest of us.

Good to hear. And Dpeck, thanks for sticking around here and making the board a better place. For what its worth, the guy who was arguing with you the most when you first joined (about sniping) was later found to have defrauded people on ebay by selling several lots of rolls of silver coins and never delivering them. LOL....

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Great read, King - thank you for sharing. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting David in person, but he's been a great guy to chat about cards with through the boards - and I would imagine a great guy in person. We could use more positive contributors like him here.

I remember all the hate for Dpeck when he first came here and posted about wrestling cards.

He's one of the few posters whose threads I look forward to reading.

Rob is was great to meet you! I had a fantastic time and it was a real pleasure to spend some time with a fellow card collector and especially one that collects the same cards as I do.

What I found to be the most interesting about Rob is he is not really a fan of professional wrestling like I am and is drawn to wrestling cards from his love for greco roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling.

Prior to the days of crazy costumes and wild characters was a time where wrestling was real and Rob is extremely knowledgeable about that time period and the combatants that climbed into the ring. He has some unbelievable pieces of much older wrestling memorabilia and those are a true piece of American history.

There is no doubt that Rob is the most knowledgeable wrestling card collector and has the most extensive collection of anyone.

Thanks for the kind words and we will certainly hang out again.

Everyone enjoyed meeting you and thank you for getting a hold of me and I am very pleased we had a chance to meet up.

Well said Jeff. We need all the positive contributors we can get to make this an enjoyable place to talk about our cards and love for the hobby.

BTW, did you two at least arm wrestle? image

Dpeck had in interesting introduction here a few years ago and took it like a champ! I am unaware of anything that had to do with his family but, yeah, it's ridiculous that anyone went there.

No arm wrestling. I ain't putting myself out there unless I can use my arms, legs, chin, a sharp elbow, brain, etc. and really grapple ;-)
