My best effort.

I can't do anymore, I shot this coin for an hour, uploaded, deleted, cropped, playing with settings, adjusted lighting, etc.
Tried like hell to represent the coin as it looks in-hand.
This is the best image of this coin I'm capable of.

    <<You have a nikon, right?>>

FUJI S3280 14MP, 24X zoom, P&S. Bought it used from a pawn shop a few months back for $100.
    DSLR is next.

EDIT: 64ISO, CUSTOM WB, macro mode, shot about 18" above the coin using tripod, 5.1X zoom. GE 6500k cfl's bulbs.
Even used a small level to ensure I was square to the coin, lamps at 10 n 2.

Ah, I thought I remembered you having a nikon and was going to suggest some software to make the whole "shoot/upload to computer/tweak" thing faster.

Also, you seem kind of discouraged about this picture, but I will be honest -- I think it looks pretty darn good.

    I agree...very nice picture quality.

I'd have no problem purchasing a high end coin with pictures such as this.
"Gold is money, and nothing else" (JP Morgan, 1912)

"“Those who sacrifice liberty for security/safety deserve neither.“(Benjamin Franklin)

"I only golf on days that end in 'Y'" (DE59)

Can you up the contrast with your camera software to show the luster a bit better?

Otherwise, that's a fine shot. I think you will do better when you get the same coin with
    the correct mint marks!

Yeah I could but the obv. is sorta golden brown and the rev. is white in the center and flat.
Gotta go nasty T-storms just to the West.

That is way better than any photo I've taken of any coin. I think it represents it well.

You just need to rotate and straighten out the obverse/reverse shots.

Thanks all for the comments, appreciate it.

<<and here I thought I was the only one that did that.>>

I lay the mini level right on the 3" screen, it's plastic so no harm done.
The cam has to be square to the coin, otherwise you'll get a bit of blur somewhere, as least in my experience.

<<Professional! Honestly, one of the greatest I have seen. Very nice!>>

I think professional is reserved for Todd P., Messydesk, Mark Goodman, TomB, Robec, Skyman, Airplanenut and others.
Those are the ones off the top of my head, many here produce outstanding images.
I'll take the compliment and still remain humble image

Those pics are really great! You dont need a MULTI $1000 ++ setup to take quality photos of coins. It looks like what you got is working out just fine!
