A monsterous TrueView photo of a 1909 Matte Proof Lincoln

Kudos to Phil Arnold at PCGS TrueView for capturing this yesterday!
This coin has been graded twice by PCGS (where it came back PR64RB both times) and looked at once by CAC where it was green stickered at the PR64 level.
This monster just cannot "shake" a PR64 grade!
I actually thought it might at least score a PR64+ grade the second time around just for the eye appeal aspect.
Clearly it must have some limiting marks or scratches since even CAC agreed it was a 64.
In any case, this has got to be the most beautiful PR64 Matte Proof Lincoln in existence ... at least the most beautiful PR64 MPL that I have ever seen.

what a great image and coin used
the depth looks like you could fall in if too close to the rims
this was my grade of preference....64rb
truly sleepers are found here
without those hefty prices
beautiful matty and awesome work by phil to capture it too...
Makes you wonder if the copper haters in the grading room would give it the same grade using just this image?

I've seen the coin in hand. I don't know what the graders are smoking, but they need to keep it out of the grading room.

hasn't it been discussed before that grading from a picture isn't a great idea nor wholly accurate?? my hunch is that since the coin has been graded at PCGS twice(presumably by two different sets of three gaders) that the grade assigned is most probably accurate. i say this with the added assumption that the graders probably have seen more 1909 MPL's than our esteemed respondents and almost certainly are also better graders than we are. this doesn't mean that it won't grade higher if you keep submitting it, but what's the point of that??
maybe they just don't like the OP and are out to get him!!
Even if it upgraded to PR65, it doesn't add much to the value ...
PCGS Price Guide (1909 MPL):
PR64RB = $1000
PR65RB = $1600
That's no big deal.
I just bought this coin a few weeks ago and it was already graded and CAC'd ... and I wanted to get a TrueView photo of it (out of the slab). So going through all that (submitting to pcgs and shipping) I just thought I would have PCGS take one more look at it. So this was my FIRST time having this coin graded (myself). In any case, I feel confident (as the previous poster does) that there must be some limiting hits or marks on this coin that nail this to the PR64 grade. After all not only does PCGS think PR64 on this but so did CAC!! I do wish PCGS provided notes on the grade though, as I would be curious to read what limited it.
I am actually thinking about sending this to CAC after I get it back ... only because CAC will provide some feedback/notes on a coin if you call them up. So it's more for building my knowledgebase than anything else.

Either way, it's a monster!
Nice coin.

I have little experience grading matties but with m.s. lincolns surface haze is a common grade limiter and it wouldn't be evident in a straight on image like this Truview. Maybe that's what's holding it back from higher grades. OR, PCGS no graded it the two times you sent it in, for color or something, and that's why you continued to get your default grade back.
In any case, my Matte Proof Lincoln collection is now up to TWO! And I can't imagine much better looking examples of the dates I have so far.
