I think I need to take a break from subbing cards........

I just got my latest submission results. Out of 24 modern cards submitted, 14 came back as PSA 8's.
I obviously all of the sudden forgot how to properly grade moderns. I need to take a break, and re-hone my grading skills......

It is not you. My last submission had about 25 modern cards with great centering, edges, and corners- cards that look like 10s. The grades were nothing but 9, 9, 9, 8, 9, 9, 8, .....etc. They are suddenly getting really tight on the 10s and even the 9s. I am sure they realize that low pops in high grades lead to more people submitting cards trying to hit those high grades.
  • Based on how backed up PSA is, I'm sure they wouldn't mind having less submissions.

I'm only submitting to PSA/DNA right now. I'm giving PSA a break.

Results I got yesterday only had two 9s.
Long string of 8s with a few 8.5s.

there are times in one's life when one must pause and take a step back to assess the current conditions and then act accordingly.

you don't go snowboarding on rocks, mud & twigs.

you don't grill steaks in a downpour.

you don't run around barefoot on an Arizona golf course in the middle of August.

you don't get drunk with your parents. or your ex-girlfriend. you know, the one who turned out to be best friends for life with your wife.

and you don't sub to PSA in the middle of a lengthy and seemingly endless backlog and obvious grader response to tighter restrictions and underpants.

July has always seemed like a bad month for subs
    Don't know why

I thought it was don't run around naked on an Arizona golf course in the middle of August. Sorry about that.

Well, maybe this will make you feel better. Recently got back my 15 freebies and added a 5 card sub...and the results are:

    9 -7-10-10-5-9-8-9-8-9OC-9-9-8.5-8-6-8-8-5-5-4.

They run the gamut from O-Pee-Chee, PSA, and hand cut panels, one Linnette and one Dexter Press from 1967. Several were either upgrades or additions to my Master Set collections, which are hard to come by in a decent grade.
