Lincoln Variety Grades Just In - Whoo Hoo!

I just received my grades on 6 Lincoln Varieties received on 6/28/12 under the Modern Tier/Variety Attribution. It was an interesting and good submission. The process is fun when you know what you are doing and when feel like you know how to grade your series. I thought that I would share with everyone. Sorry for large pictures image

1955-D RPM FS-503 MS 65 RD - I purchased this coin raw. It has really nice toning that does not come through well in these photos. I thought it would grade 65RB.

1972 DDO FS-108 MS 65 RD - I cracked this out of an NGC holder in 65RD. I thought it had a shot at 66

1980 DDO FS-101 MS 63 BN - I cracked this out of an older NGC holder in AU58. I thought it would come back as 58, so this is quite an upgrade (maybe not really). I did not have a picture of the old holder readily available.

1994 DDR FS-801 MS 64 RB - I cracked this out of a PCI 65RD holder. I thought it would grade 64RB and did.

1964 DDR FS-801 MS 65 RD - I cracked this out of an older NGC holder in 65 RD. This coin has blazing luster and thought it would hit 66.

1959 D/D/D RPM FS-101 MS 65 RD - I submitted this raw with the thinking it would grade 65 RD and it did. I did not photograph this coin prior to submitting.

I am very happy with this submission, but nothing was too surprising except the 1980 (and in a good way). This process is still very exciting, and now I need to put together another submission.

Congrats! I love all of those varieties. I once found a 1994 DDR in circulation- nowhere near as nice as yours!

My favorite DDO is the 1980 as well because it's my birth year. Tough tough coin but that scratch across the head should have No Graded it.

Too bad you can't score an MS65+ on a 2009p Lincoln cent wddr-006/wddo-002 (skeleton finger variety) with a PCGS label yet. Oh the humanity! (C'mon CPG!)

Not trying to hijack your thread, sorry.

Very nice examples of dd's you have there! image

I kind of have to agree about the 1980. It does look more AU than MS. In any case, it is still an awesome DDO. I recently bought 15 original bank wrapped rolls to to to cherry pick one. I have not opened any of them yet. Wonder what my chances are...

All the other coins are sweet, too!

Nice going Chris...its the "FUN" that counts.

Thanks everybody! I love the '80 DDO as well with the "wobbly" 0 as I refer to it. That gash on the head isn't as noticeable without magnification (but the one below the Memorial building is, and was my only concern). However IMO, it is consistent with other coins that I have seen that graded somewhat questionably since the new holders have come out. It is a nice coin nonetheless.

Congrats Chris! I think your real score was the'64 ddr! Low pop on these past 64rd. Im with the crowd on the 1980 ddo, but my hat is off to you for a nice batch of coins you submitted.
    PS. That '94 looks familiar...;

Thanks Dennis! Yep, the '94 DDR of yours turned out well! I think the pop on the '64 is 15/1. Really thought it had a chance at 66, as it is better than the non-variety '64 that I have in 66. I'll be in touch!
