Newbie to sports auction house buying. Advice?

Hey guys. I'm finally starting to go more into the immediate/advanced collcetor level (with HOF signed postcards) and wanted to get some advice on how to find the right places to buy/bid and how to spot fraud and all that.

  • All depends on which autos you are looking for. Ideally when dealing with the bigger auction houses, the autographed postcards will already be graded. Study prices on past auctions--most of the online auction houses have previous results somewhere online. Start with smaller auctions like sirius before jumping to the bigger houses--know the rules. Know the premiums they implement.

These boards (for the most part) are a wealth of knowledge. Don't be afraid to ask opinions on autos/post scans.

    Just my two cents...
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12
