The color seems nice and vibrant, the pic is a little bright and washes out some of the detail. That is a lot of chatter, so a common AU with good color. Not sure what I would pay.

That is not what the pics are saying. Rub on hair curl and cheek.

    Just my opinion.

Edited to add.. Very pretty colors!

  • my pics suck... soo sue me.. I went for the color shot and thus you see flatness in the hair which is also brought out more by the toning

I don't think that's MS, too many contact marks in the field. I don't think I'd pay much premium over melt...that's just me though!

Now don't get your panties in a bunch... You asked for opinions/thoughts on this coin. So I gave you my opinion from the provided picture. I don't have the coin in hand you do. Send it in and see what it grades.

My first gut shot reaction is also AU and overexposed lighting for the shot.
Not saying it to be mean and not saying I could necessarily do better.
If the price is right, and you liked the coin, then good for you.

What would I pay? $75ish assuming the reverse looks normal and fine.

The reason I think it looks AU is because of how the toning doesn't appear over some of the high points (like the hair)

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Not in the least bit... I am just telling you what I know from having the coin in hand image Full cartwheel luster, some hits ofc.. and strike weakness, but killer color. image

New Orleans mint is notorious for having a flat strike on the hair curl & ear. It could very well be unc.
I like the color and I definitely like carthwheel luster. I'm with Bochiman, I'd probably pay $75 if I saw it at a show and decided it was uncirculated.

    edited for spelling.

    money colors

white shadows "radiating out" behind the likes of stars and date
    leave less question of color

i see lots without the white shadowing i speak of.... in holders
    but more with the shadowing

just a point on morgans and toning...i first look for

awesome coin...in a graded holder...even more the awesome
    $200 raw...a guess on what i'd pay
i'd send it in a couple times if needed...not sure more then 3 or 4 times though...image
    i'd have the biggest smile
if and when it did land in a graded holder

    just candid thoughts

From your pic that looks like a mint state coin to me, but hard to tell how many are hits and chatter and how much is just toning breaks.

A reverse pic would help greatly in determining grade.
Based on the obv. pic, I'll say AU58/MS60.
What would I pay? I wouldn't pay crazy money for
a raw coin with gobs of color, JMO. Crazy money I mean several hundred.
Slab it, see how PCGS feels.

EDIT: Maybe it's just a weak strike, O mint Morgans are known for this.

it's an interesting coin as I see nice color with a lot of chatter, an unusual combination I believe

You are asking us to put a value on a coin.

Value is based mostly on grade.

We cannot determine grade from a color shot.

    Kind of silly.

But nice colors for sure, and MS (though one can not even tell that for sure in this pic, but I believe you have the experience to make a mint state call image )

Beauuutiful! I like. You can see the "rainbow" pattern. Layers of color. Cool Morgan. I would have payed maybe,50$-70$.

Well I'm not one to pay premiums for toning so while pretty that would only influnce my buy price afew dollars. Now the coin, I suspect its low MS but if that is chatter in the fields, and not just color breaks, then I'd expect it to grade as an AU; seems that every Morgan I see with chatter in the fields gets the AU grade.

Eddited to add you asked a price so I'd pay $50-60 tops

Common passive-aggressive response around here for getting answers that you don't agree with.
You are the ONLY one here that has it inhand. What we are all telling you is that, FROM THE PHOTOS, we wouldn't pay much.

Obviously, from your reponses to folks, you are upset that people aren't saying "$300+", "$400+", "MOON MONEY$$$$$" so you can then say how you paid under $200 for it.
However, most of us are telling you that, FROM THE PHOTOS, it looks AU (even if you say it isn't, it has that look), and the toning is "nice" but nothing many of us would pay MOON MONEY for.

FROM THE PHOTOS, again, I would buy it as a nice AU with nice toning. The toning is the only thing I would buy it for as I don't generally buy AU looking morgans unless they were a key date or something special about them.

Get it slabbed by PCGS in a MS+ holder, then sell it on ebay for MOON MONEY, and then come back and update the thread and throw it in all our faces. I will congratulate you at that time. image
