I spent a couple at Coachella a few years back and the guy thanked me and said they were lucky.

Quite seriously, when I give them out now I quite often hear some variant of "Oooh! A lucky two dollar bill!"

I've don't have any in my wallet but there is a small stack at home. The tooth-fairy brings them to our kids at the appropriate times.

I was told by people at the Bureau of Printing and Engraving that they run them once every few years when their stockpile runs out.

The original 600 million notes were printed in 1976. They printed 150 million notes dated 1995 during 1996 and 1997. They printed 120 million notes dated 2003 during 2004 and 220 million notes dated 2003A during 2006. Apparently, bills dated 2009 are being printed currently.

And I thought the dates on coins were strange.

yes i do i need to get a new wallet since i sat on mine so long the middle is tearing apart.
