Just had to file a SNAD!!

Tdec1000Tdec1000 Posts: 3,852 ✭✭✭
First one in years! This guy is selling a nice near cameo 64 Accented Hair half.. Coin arrives today and was very excited to see the coin. Open up the package and the seller taped the coin to the invoice with heavy duty packing tape!!!! Better yet its a RATTY old 64 buisness strike Kennedy with spots everywhere!!

Seller even went as far as putting a hole in the backside of the invoice and taped over it too. Making it look like if I returned the item that I switched it!

This guy is a real piece of work and needs to be NARU'd!

If you guys need the buyer ID pm me and I will give it to you tonight.

Yeah same here. Ebay used to be easy and honest, I even took some personal checks. Sorry about your coin, good luck getting your money back.

    Whoa!

"This auction is for 1 1964 Proof Kennedy silver half dollar .....
This coin is for (from?) a roll I bought over 20 years ago......"

There is some telling information in that listing.

If you are not aware of it, a lot of folks use proof as a coins "condition" instead of method of manufacture. Granted, receiving a spotted business strike would not accurately describe a "proof" condition coin but this seller may be totally unaware of his error which I believe to be the use of a stock photograph instead of the actual coin being sold.

You really should have no problem getting your money back but you'll have to return the coin which he sent. eBay may let you down but PayPal should stand behind you with this one. After all, you didn't get what you "thought" you were buying.

When I first started as a seller, a little over 10 years ago, I would routinely send out items before I received payment (usually by check). Only a couple of times did I have to send a couple of reminder emails ... I was never cheated. Recently I had three buyers where repeated (polite, gentle) reminders either were ignored or responded to with sarcasm and anger. It's a sad change in the culture.

NEVER HOTSHIP! I learned this lesson the hard way! I sold a couple of NGC graded morgans to a user that had like 200 feedbacks, I never heard a word from them.

I already neg'd him once he started saying that I switched the coin out. I could smell this scam from a mile away! I can't believe someone would go through all this trouble for a $40.00 coin to make $30.00 profit off of a scam.

Paypal disputes for ebay auctions go through the ebay buyer resolution process. They are pretty quick. I had to file a case a while back vs a scammer and I got my money back in 7 days when he didn't respond.

Seller uses stock photos, Red Flag. Did you ask is the coin pictured is the coin you'll receive? Anyway, he has a 14 day return policy.. Return the coin, if he doesn't refund the money, file with PP. Slam dunk.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!
