Regrade Question

I have a few Morgans in my Registry Set that are AU58 and CAC'd.
If I wanted to have these regraded and put into the PCGS Secure Plus holders, does the certification number change?
Also, do I need to resubmit them for CAC Verification?
Some of my Morgans are the only ones CAC in AU58. I don't want to increase the CAC Population shown for my AU58s.
The reason I want to get these coins regraded is because I am trying to get the AU58+ grades in PCGS and a few of my coins may upgrade that "+".
Any advice would be great.

You can get a plus on a non secure holder.
If you take a full holder shot CAC may re-sticker them but I am not sure once the number changes.
I'm not sure there is any way to have them considered for a + without also risking a larger upgrade.

Your cert numbers will most likely change. They will likely need to be resubmitted to CAC with no assurance that the coin will bean at the new grade [if the grade changes].
<< <i>I don't believe you'd have to pay the "Secure Plus" grading fee to take a stab at the plus. You could just send them in for regrade...of course you also then "risk" the chance of a full upgrade, and it sounds like the 58 grade is pretty important to you.

Your right about the the full upgrade. I would actually be upset if some of these coins came back as MS60 or even higher.
Problem is I don't have a convient coin dealer that can help me in grading them to see if any should be submitted for upgrades, but that is a topic for another day.

The coin is in the CAC database under a certain cert number. If the cert number changes [even tho the grade may not] you'd still need to resend to CAC.
You would need to resubmit it to CAC. I'm not sure of the procedure to let CAC know about the old cert# that no longer exists so that CAC can adjust its database. But I'm sure there's a way.
If you want these coins to stay AU58 don't have them regraded. Anything can happen, including a downgrade (along with a payout).
Lance.
<< <i>Which raises the question, they have a box for Minimum Grade...how about if you put in a "maximum grade" on your submission form? >>
Hmmm, interesting thought for lowballers.

I would hope the coins would not be downgraded if they were considered solid or higher in the AU58 range by CAC. But I understand what your saying.

<< <i>The competition in the everyman sets must be getting pretty fierce. >>
Not that many participants. The only way to improve on a 58 is with a +. The desire for Everyman Walkers seems to be dead.
