$20,000 collection sold for $500 at a local flea market. At least they caught the crooks but unclear from story if coins were returned. Will do a follow-up post if coins remain missing and can be identified.
"The pair are accused of entering an office building owned by Glenn Watterson II at 207 Second St. on June 20 and stealing an antique safe that contained a $20,000 antique coin collection, according to the police report.
"Police said Closser and McCormick put the safe in the back of McCormick’s pickup and drove it to a secluded area near Watts Mill Bridge and forced it open using sledgehammers.
"According to the report, Closser and McCormick took the coins to the flea market in Rogers, Ohio, and sold them to a vendor for $500."
Typical idiots but now they have criminal records and the coins probably ended up with people who did not suspect anything criminal. These stories are becoming too familiar necessitating increased security.
Good. Caught them. Odds are against the police finding the coins, but they did it in this case. It never ceases to amaze me how many burglars are under the age of 21. In our town, home invasions by 14 to 16 year old burglars armed with pistols are commonplace. These two were 18 years old, which is just about the sweet spot for burglary.

<< <i>The vendor sounds like a possible criminal too. (At least from what is gathered from the article) >>
" but Closser and McCormick were identified as the sellers after police put out word about the stolen coins."
yeah really, after the "vendor" found out the coins were stolen he contacted the police and identified the sellers..... what a scummy dealer......
