A new way to lose PSA cards in the mail

Perhaps this is a first. I am gone for the weekend so I miss the mail on Saturday and Monday. Our neighborhood has a large metal group mailbox that has 16 units, each requiring a key to get into. Its nice because you can drive up to it and get your mail on the way home. So I get home late Monday night and go to get the mail but the group mailbox has disappeared. Only a cut off metal post is left. I know I have two cards in the mailbox from eBay because of delivery confirmation information. I find out that someone ran into it so the USPS hauled it away to be replaced some time in the near future. But you guessed it, when I go to the Post Office to get my mail from the now long-gone mailbox, both packages were smashed up. Neither was insured and $100 is lost. Ouch. My only saving grace was that I had a nice 1959 PSA 9 card coming that didn't make the Monday delivery, so it is safe and secure.

Perhaps the Insurance co for the driver that hit the mailbox would pay your claim??
<< <i>If you wanted to, even though it was not the seller's fault, you could probably still file an ebay claim that the package was damaged upon delivery. You'd probably have a decent chance of winning also since it is the seller's responsibility to ensure that the package is safely delivered and include insurance if the seller thinks it is worth it. >>
+1
I would open a case and ask the seller if he insured the cards, if he did threw ebay shipping he should then file a claim and get refunded.
<< <i>I'd at least make some phone calls to see if anything could be done. Afterall this is somewhat of an out of the ordinary situation.

This. Get a copy of a police report detailing the incident and file a claim against the motorist's liability insurance for property damage. I hope you kept the damaged cards as evidence and that you can prove what they were worth prior to their destruction.
