BUYING Frank Gotch T229 Kopec Looking to BUY n332 1889 SF Hess cards and high grade cards from 19th century especially. "Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy" Dan Gable
this was a game we used to play at the local Parks & Rec. Center near my house, with Little League equipment, several tennis balls retrieved from the gully behind the swing set and maybe a couple football helmets.
first base was a sprinkler head.
second base was achieved by touching the protective bar in front of the swing set.
third base was a metal cover placed on the patch of grass by the Department of Water and Power to protect their underground wiring.
home plate was any article of clothing or a catcher's mitt placed at the foot of a small hill which rose above the "field".
the swing set was in play. so were the children using it.
a home run was achieved by hitting the ball over the swing set and into the gully. then someone had to go retrieve it. usually the person who made the most recent out.
tag plays and rundowns usually deteriorated into brawls, blood and scrapes for the participants. foul territory was everywhere. and anywhere.
spectacular catches were often made. amazing comebacks, too. maybe quite a few in the same game.
no umps. no curfews. and most of what i just told you about the game was just BS, anyways.
