Got my '78 Topps packs today; nothing particularly noteworthy. Only stars were Catfish Hunter and Willie Stargell. The Stargell was one of the gum cards and is completely destroyed. The Hunter is nice but o/c enough to the right that it could grade no better than PSA 8.
I did pick up three nice commons I didn't have that are worthy of adding to the high grade '78 set I'm building (and a fourth common that is an upgrade), so it wasn't a complete waste.
Thanks for organizing the rip, Mark!

I received my cards today, went with #1 1978 wax, 2 1980 cellos's, and 2 1980 wax.
1978: Star power was there, condition was not. 1978 wax had a wax card of Concepcion, and a very OC Paul Molitor RC (still cool to pull that card though)
1980: Nobody of note on front or back and condition was good. Pulled a Mike Schmidt card.....it was the gum card...DOH!
Pulled 2 Nolan Ryans: One from a cello and one from a wax. They both look nice. Here are some scans, sorry for the dusty scanner:
I received my stuff today. I received 2 78 cellos and 2 78 wax. I didn't have any star power at all on the packs, but they for once in my life will stay sealed. I also purchased 2 83 topps vending boxes and will ripping those in the very near future. Mark, thanks again for setting this up!!
Received my two '80 cello packs w/o any star power. Since the box was not from a sealed case, I don't expect many HOF on top packs. I did get Jim Kaat on the back of one pack. I remember as a kid really liking this card because of the teeny tiny font.
Of course nothing was as cool as when they had to turn the stats sideways like in the '76 George Blanda:
packs arrived at 407pm - ripped by 427pm - 4 wax and 2 cello - no stars showing so i opened all - at work so here's a phone pick - will scan more tonight - anyone ever hear of this rickey guy?
I only ordered two 1980 cellos from this break, so I knew the odds were against me, but here they are anyway.
The top cards are Tony Armas and Dave LaRoche, both of which were double printed in this set.
The backing cards are Orioles Future Stars and Rudy May.
Funny that of the Orioles "Future Stars", Mark Corey, an outfielder, played a total of 59 games over three years in the majors, with a .211 batting average.
Dave Ford, a pitcher, played a total of 51 games over a four year stretch, with a 5-6 won/loss record and a 4.02 era.
The only player with any kind of "future" in this group was Wayne Krenchicki who played for eight years with a .266 lifetime batting average.

So my packs came today. 2 of each, 78 & 80 cellos, and 78& 80 wax. I 78 pack has Robin Yount on back, that is staying sealed. One of the 78 cellos, has a red Rick Auerback on front, and another Red Dan driessen on back(I think this pack was meant for Mark). Great fun. Mark

Nothing in my 80's wax and cello packs worth grading. The 78 wax was mostly oc but did hit a really nice Pete Rose. Had a lot of peach fuz around the outside though. Not sure how that would affect the grade.

No. Your packs are shipped when you pay. I am just reminding the people who haven't paid to get Steve paid.
