Finally! Mail Day!

Ok, I know this card pales in comparison to some [most] cards being shown on this site, but its one I have wanted for a long, long while, and while not the greatest grade obviously, it presents more than well enough, and I am pretty excited to actually get it in the mail. I only add the last part as the seller only had 30 feedback, so, you never know ...

Anyhow, I realize its not that exciting, but for someone who [1] loves the Sox, [2] loves Ted Williams, and [3] loves the 1956 set, it was a pretty awesome mail day!

1956 Topps is a great card of Ted and the color and focus looks real nice on that one.

  • Congrats! I will say this again. The wonderful thing about card collecting is everyone can join in. It is not just for big money guys. I think it is a great card. Presents itself well for the grade. Anyone should be honored to have that card, and I am glad you shared it with us. Enjoy!

  • whats "wrong" with that copy?

imagine if that card could talk, the stories it could tell vs what a "psa 9" version of the card could

be PROUD of your collection. its cliche, but the grass is always greener on the other side

Nothing wrong really .... I'd prefer a better centered copy, so long as the color was just as nice. I don't really care about grade - more so centering, color, presentation. I only buy graded to ensure authenticity.

If you take away the obvious benefit of having a high grade card like this (or Ruth, Cobb, Mantle, etc.....), I would almost rather have the ones that are beaters. Those have the greater history and a story to tell. One can almost imagine the excitement that some kid had when opening a pack and finding one of those cards (similar to how I felt when I pulled a Darryl Strawberry or Dwight Gooden from an 86 pack). There is a certain charm to a card that is 50 years old, beaten up and survived the test of time.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.
