Very nice! I do like that Cobb.

I picked this up a few months ago on eBay. It's by Chris Henderson, and all of the proceeds of the auction went to the ALS Foundation (charity for those with Lou Gehrig's disease).

It would be nice to add a few players to my PC. Are there any other recommendations?

Instead of starting a new thread.. adding to this one...

I have sketch cards from various artists. I want them slabbed as authentic but I got this response from PSA CS:

We would not be able to encapsulate your card as a sketch card. however, it can be submitted for autograph authentication and encapsulation. The notation of the player on the card will not be present on the label as we will solely be authenticating the autograph in our opinion, but would allow for this card to be encapsulated. The autographed back of the card would be facing out with the PSA/DNA label and sketch portion of your card would be rear-facing. Again, there would be no mention of the player portrayed. The artist's authentication fee would be $20.00. Please note, you would be responsible for all fees regardless of whether or not the items pass as being authentic

This is not the response I wanted. If I have 8 different sketches of the same player, they can't put his name on the bottom line and the proceeding #? Silly. Honestly, I'm not concerned about authenticating the auto (I highly doubt sketch cards would be forged and would always pass) just want it slabbed. And that's pricey just to slab it so it's probably not gonna happen. They really need to think of a different way of slabbing certain cards.
  • Could it not be submitted as a green label?

You'd think so but I doubt it. I just want the card slabbed to put with my other PC cards. I want the art image facing front/auto facing back with the artist name on the top line of the label and the players name on the bottom preceding the # in the series of that same player. I don't think it's much to ask for but they are set in their ways.

PSA will not green label sketch cards. I already tried. Other grading companies will encapsulate sketch cards. I see them on eBay.

If that's the case then Beckett will get my money regarding encapsulating sketch cards.

UPDATE: It appears even after joining BGS, cards under specials are still a whopping $10 each (1-10 cards).

    ETA: Beckett prices

From Beckett Grading CS, re: sketch cards,

Unfortunately, since they are not licensed we cannot put them iour slabs. I apologize that we cannot do the grading service for you.

Thats interesting because CGC and CBCS will grade and authenticate sketches from artists at comic book shows. Those sketches can be on books that are designed by Marvel or DC or other publishers for sketches or on backing boards or whatever medium.

I wonder if this is something that either one of those two companies would be interested in authenticating. Although CGC's process for auto certification would most likely make many of y'alls heads explode. ha

What kills me is that I JUST WANT IT IN A SLAB! I dont care about the auto authentication for a sketch card, that's a waste of money. I understand PSA won't sell their empty slabs but I just want my skecth cards and oddballs slabbed and labeled.

Would PSA not put it in one of those green slabs?

    I didn't ask but I'd bet they won't.
