Guess the Genuine [answer guessed correctly]

Guess the reason PCGS called my precious 1866 Seated Dollar Genuine.
I bought this coin in 1997 or so at a Syracuse ONA show, raw. I have had offers to buy it from several people over the years, as it has great eye appeal in hand. However, I did not look at it closely enough, and it graded Genuine last month. PCGS was right. Now see if you can guess the reason.

Still looks like it's altered surfaces...but at least now I've covered my bases!

<< <i>Altered surfaces was my first thought, but based upon the E of ONE on the reverse I'll make my second guess "Holed & Plugged". >>
Interesting! I was thinking that the head was lacking a lot of detail for what is remaining on the rest of the coin...huh. Now I'm severely curious.
So far, your guesses look like this:
Keep guessin'.......
tooled
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.

I thought cleaned as well.
The shield on the reverse is much crisper than that on the obverse. Is it re-tooled?
Still a cool coin.
Looks a little crisp around the eagle but may be the photo/shadow.
Maybe a little putty action too?
I wouldn't have said that otherwise. Looks great to me.

Teddy finally figured it out! Someone very lightly scratched their name into the obverse field to the right of Liberty's portrait, and over the years, it wore off. It's so faint that I can't even read it, but you can still see the evidence above Liberty's foot. It might be Evelyn or Evonney or something of that nature. The photo shows the best view you're going to get, as it isn't much more obvious in person. I owned it for 15 yrs. and didn't notice, nor did anyone who saw it in person.
oh....and I see, you tried to hide it under a glare off of the slab too.
Thanks for a fun post
