Error Coin or Damaged Coin ?

I would like your opinion - based on what you can see here, is the damage that's been done to this coin likely to have happened during the manufacturing process or after it left the mint?

I don't have any more pictures right now, but will have more later.
Thanks!

Since I'm more of a paper currency collector than a coin collector, what about the pictures was the giveaway... What makes you certain that this is PMD... I'm not doubting, just wanting to learn.
or got twisted in a pair of pliers, etc.
It's 100% Damaged, or as we like to
say here - PMD (post-Minting damage)
Sorry, but it's unquestionably not an error
coin of any type.
of course he should have the last word.
there is no doubt about that.
it is not a mint error, as mentioned.
it's a long discussion of the minting process.
you know if this were a $1 note and it was worn but cut perfectly..... except for this strange center cut slashing through the side and into the portrait.
you would know immediately it never left the BEP that way because nothing in the printing and cutting process would cause something like that.
the biggest giveaway starts with that it was fully minted on both sides including where someone took something too task on it.
Once a coin is minted, it is ejected from the machine and goes into containers for storage and later transport. nothing would cause something like that at the mint.
PMD no doubt

Good thing I didn't bother printing it then !!

Fortunately the seller hadn't shipped the coin yet, so I told them not to ship it.
They are disputing the refund...

I like Listia a lot... I don't get a ton of coins/currency there, but did score one really cool thing recently:
I've been on eBay since early 1996 and I've definitely over that...
Listia is like a yard sale... you wade through a lot of junk to find a few treasures.
