Any 22-D is worth saving (especially one with as much details as yours)! Congrats!

I'd soak that coin in olive oil for a while to see if some of that corrosion will come off.

    What luck!

Too bad about the corrosion. I'd probably treat it with Verdicare to stabilize anything active. But I don't think it will do much for the coin.

Worth saving? Sure! Don't spend it. Give it to a YN, sell on ebay or stash it.

Is it something worth sending to NCS? I'm not sure of the value here... I guess I need to reesearch it. Has anyone had a coin like this and was successful in removing this stuff?

Definitely not worth the trip to NCS in my opinion, but still worth asking the copper experts for their thoughts on conservation.

You can't remove it. The damage is done. It is definitely not worth sending to NCS.

But VerdiCare (nee Verdigone) will tame anything active.

It's a cool find but not worth much in its condition.

Well.... if you ever decide for whatever reason that it's not worth keeping, both my sons could still use it (in whatever condition) for their Whitman folder collections!image

This one looks like it was in the ground.Very well struck.

I would say worth about $5.image

Nice find, the 1922-D is the key to the one-coin-per-year Lincoln set.
