For those of you who ignore BIN's because they are too high!!...Card in question back on Ebay!

...this seller obviously didn't know what he had. VCP on the card is a shade under a grand (although that is a little on the high side because the same VCP has 5's less than 4's)....SMR has the card at $650 and All Star Cards is currently paying $425 for this particular card in this particular grade, sight unseen.....just goes to show that not all BIN's are "museum pieces" that never sell, and that you can find diamonds in the rough once in a while......this one lasted all of 2 hours......

There's still time for you to message seller with a $450 offer...just in case the current buyer never pays.

I am sure the buyer already paid. Usually when somebody "steals" an item, they pay within seconds. I put the odds on them NOT paying at 1,000 to 1.

He ended a couple of auctions early. For someone who appears to be so in tune with card values, I am still not sure how he blatantly missed the Bobby Jones value.....

  • Why do people ignore bins? I don't get it. I know some sellers list their things very high but, some bargins can be had. I just coast over the sellers that have unreal expectations.

When I sell, I list everything at an average of completed auctions. Not to high and not to low, just average. I use buy it now because it let me put the IP on my items so I can get paid right away

Most people ignore BINs because the vast majority of them are priced so high, that they will never attract bids. People call them 'museum pieces'. It hurts the normal BIN sellers like you and me. I can list a card at or slightly below VCP and it goes the 30 days without a sniff. I list the same card as a 99 cent auction, and it sells higher than what my BIN price was!!! Go figure.....

That was a nice deal but with low BIN'S it seems that you have 30 seconds to snatch it up and if you do the seller sends you a email saying that he messed up on the price.
  • Thanks for the tip......not sure who's the bigger fool, this seller or you giving away your EBay strategies! But thanks!!!image

I hate to bust your bubble, but these aren't trade secrets or anything. This is common sense stuff that most normal, smart, sensible people should know. Oh wait - do YOU know this????

My buyers seem to ignore BINs then pay more at auction, whatever, I'll take it.

This is a needle in a haystack. Congratulations to the buyer.....but what that buyer wouldn't tell you is how many hundred hours he spent sorting through BINS over the last year without finding anything reasonably priced, until now. I'm glad his efforts paid off, but the absurdity of searching BINS on a routine basis continues to make this strategy non-rewarding over the long-term. Unless you're just a window shopper.

mcadams - it depends on what you're searching - on some searches I do daily, they average less than 5 new listings a day, including BINs. I'm not really spending much extra time looking at those (and on one of those searches, about 5% of the BINs are worth hitting).

The person who stole the BIN has put it back on Ebay for a 99 cent auction. I see it didn't go to a real collector - interesting to see where it ends up....

  • Get the eBay app for your phone. It makes all the difference in looking at new listings (both auctions and BIN). I don't go to the webpage anymore. I get most of my steals from cheap BINs or mislabeled items.

Autin...I would love that, but that sounds like it is for smart phones. If you saw how old my phone was, you would laugh. Not good with understanding new technological breakthroughs....

The irony is that the $250 that he purchased the card for will hurt his sale. Its the only one in completed auctions on ebay so many buyers look at that and think "thats the rate now for this". Not saying everyone but it certainly is part of the game.

I agree. Too bad he would have to wait two months for his purchase to get removed from completed sales but I am sure it will go for more that what he paid.

Whenever I list a BIN, it hardly ever sells, then I'll put the same card up for a regular auction and it sells for higher than what I was asking for in the BIN
