2004 Topps Retired Sigs

Okay, I realize this isn't the most glamorous set, but I like it. I have most of Ds and later and half of As - Cs. I am looking to complete it, so if you have some, let me know.

My question is that I have a 1 of 1 yellow proof of Tony Fernandez, but I don't find a regular card of the proof. Did I screw up and buy a fake?

Any help is appreciated,
Luke

Attached is a scan of the Fernandez Yellow and Ryan Cyan. The Fernandez looks legit, but I still have not seen a regular copy.

ok, what you've got there are auto'd printing plates for Ryan and Fernandez. They are completely legit. I took your picture and rotated it, and then found a closed auction on eBay for the Ryan. I couldn't find a picture of the regular Fernandez.

I'm guessing the reverse of both plates look something like my Butlers from '05 Retired Sigs.

Thank you for the validation, but you stumbled on my original point. In over 5 years of looking at this set on ebay, I have never seen a Tony Fernandez. I have seen every other card. That other Ryan you found is mine as well.

That is what I was looking for. I thought he was in group E. But I have seen 20+ of every other group E player and never Tony F. I guess it is just a coincidence.

    Some random examples.

Tony Armas. 3 current auctions. 7 completed.
Jimmy Key. 5 current. 7 completed.
Ron Kittle. 2 current. 5 completed.

Three random examples in the same group as Tony F. Not a single Fernandez found. What are the odds?

Armas, Key and Kittle are from Group G. I believe group A was the least produced, B the next, so on.. with group G being the most.

Sorry, I am traveling and my lists are on my home computer. I will chime back in on Saturday with the numbers then. I have been collecting these for over 5 years and never seen one. I have seen most of the As which are limited to 25 and all of the others except Tony F. Even if he was in the E group, that is not that rare.

Okay, another 2 months have passed and I still have not found a Tony Fernandez card. Does anyone know a way I can get in touch with Topps to see if this ever came out. If not, it makes the proof seem rather pointless.

That's the one. I always search by 2004 Topps Retired or Signature. Sucks I missed it.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned my search term. I would assume many sellers don't realize the set is called "Retired Signatures".
