Not only was it 1600 years older than the shipwreck, it was from a Roman emperor who ruled for only three months. Strange, eh?

But some of the folks on the FORVM boards think that's a bronze Otho... a Renaissance-era "Paduan" copy, in other words. I'm not so sure I see that. Most sea-salvaged silver is black like that. I would think a corroded bronze would be greener? They were looking at the lettering.
