#1-If he got that card when he was 13 it should be in decent shape and I would claim way more that 4k if it was insured threw a home owners policy.

#2- When did fox start using pictures of fake cards in there stories Fake Mantle pic
  • That's terrible... I hope the police catch the person that did it and that he gets his card(s) back!

A lot of policies limit total coverage for collectibles unless they are on a separate rider or personal articles policy. There is also a proof of possession and condition issue unless he has a good photo. Another reason why a separate rider or specific collectibles insurance should be considered for high end items..

  • How do these stories even make it on the news? Do they call the news station and say "Do you want to do a story on my 52 Mantle that got stolen in a burglary?"

Something tells me the guy is lying about owning that card and having had it stolen. Just a gut feeling.

Most home safes are really only good for a little bit of fire protection sadly.

Yep, and those safes are mostly only rated for one hour of heat/fire.

Easiest way to get a mantle? Pretend you had one but someone stole it! I call bs for a plethora of reasons.

This reminds of the thread where the guy said he thought he had any baseball card he wanted, so in essence, he did have it. Since he thought he had it, there was no need to purchase it.

    Thanks,

except this guy probably never had the funds to "in essence" own it.
