Creative customs declarations.

I normally put "Numismatic Material" on the customs declaration form, unless I have already dealt with the customer before.

What are some more creative customs declaraions have you seen? (either sent or received)

Today I received a nice coin from the states with "Family Geneology Material" on the declaration form. image
Myself, I have sent using "Plastic case sample" for slabbed coins. I believe that was because I had to use UPS and they didnt allow coins to be sent through.

  • I had a coin arrive recently with "numismatic research material" on it. Another was "stamped metal discs".

    "numismatic item"
    "Metallic disc".

I bought a gold sovereign once from Great Britain and the customs form said "gold coin".

    I'm surprised it arrived safely.

I did email the seller later on with some words of advice on how to describe valuable coins.
"Gold is money, and nothing else" (JP Morgan, 1912)

"“Those who sacrifice liberty for security/safety deserve neither.“(Benjamin Franklin)

"I only golf on days that end in 'Y'" (DE59)

    You're too much image

I forgot to add, the guy who put down "Geneology Material" also wrapped the NGC slab in tinfoil... In any case, i'm thankful to him because it got through Canadian customs without accruing the import tax.

Going to have to steal this one.

If I use it, do I have to pay any royalties?

    "metal stampings"

So the guy asks, "Why so much insurance ($1000)?" Sez I, "thats the cost to set up the machines, so if you lose them, that's the loss involved!"image

  • I put "sample for collection" it so confusing

Or "Planchet" "Disc" "Car Part" "Washer" "metal object" "penny" "fossil" "object for scientific research" "papers"

Really anything I can think of that gives me a laugh before I send the coin lol
